Western medicine can't ignore traditional knowledge. Not Today.
Generations of trauma and socio-economic marginalization have put Indigenous people at a disproportionate risk of negative health outcomes, including mental illness and suicide.
Today, CAMH is working with Indigenous leaders to bring traditional healing practices into mental health care. We believe that culture is central to healing and wellness, and are committed to building a new model of care that respects and honours the expertise of First Nations, Inuit and Métis communities.
