Areas of Research
Dr. Kish’s primary research focus has been to understand the consequences of chronic exposure of the stimulants methamphetamine and ecstasy (mdma) on the human brain by employing postmortem brain, brain imaging, and, with Dr. Russell Callaghan (UNBC), epidemiological approaches. This work also includes examination of the behaviour of brain glial cells (microglial, astroglial) to stimulants to appreciate whether glial cell involvement might be helpful, harmful, or both, or suggest a new drug target. His research has been funded by the United States National Institutes of Health (NIH).
