I was approached by someone from the CAMH face-to-face team to start donating in 2017, and learned about how they are able to help people living with mental illness who are struggling or in crisis. I've been donating monthly since then, because I want CAMH to always be there to help someone who needs it. I'm proud to support CAMH with my monthly donation.
I became a CAMH monthly donor because I have first hand experience about how amazing CAMH is and the need for more financial support. CAMH staff are the most compassionate and most knowledgeable people when it comes to caring for people with mental illness, including addiction. They are the leading hospital for mental health, trying to have early intervention to help our youth go on to lead healthy and happy lives. I’m happy to say my child will be one of those people. If we all give what we can each month, I know it will go to a very worthy cause and help so many.
I have seen mental health challenges in all four of my children, but it's my youngest who has suffered the most from it. I started to donate to CAMH monthly because I appreciate the outreach that they are doing, as I truly believe that the more we talk about mental health, the better informed we are, the better off the next generations will be.
Monthly donors inspire hope by accelerating discovery at CAMH, increasing the scope and scale of our investigations and shortening the path from breakthroughs to care.
Change Agents build the dignified spaces at CAMH that promote recovery and break down the stigma of mental illness to promote healing. CAMH is in the midst of its biggest transformation to date, having opened two new buildings for care in 2021–The McCain Centre for Complex Care and Recovery and the CAMH Crisis and Critical Care Building.
From research-informed educational resources for the public to large scale awareness campaigns encouraging Canadians to learn and talk about the most difficult issues surrounding mental health, monthly donors support CAMH in our mission to change how people understand and treat mental illness in Canada and around the world.
